My Experience & Philosophy
I've worked with many groups of people, including...
parents who feel overwhelmed and unbalanced
kids experiencing anxiety and high stress
youth athletes wanting to go to the next level
women experiencing infertility
women going through menopause
people experiencing grief and trauma
Therapeutic Approach
I teach in the Viniyoga tradition, which means I tailor the practice to meet you exactly where you are – body, mind, and heart – in that moment. Letting go of the “shoulds” is often the hardest part. I invite you to gently shine a light into the parts of yourself that have been overlooked or overshadowed by old, unconscious habits.
I bring together a deep study of meditation, mindfulness, and yogic philosophy with a strong foundation in relational neurobiology and Western psychology. This unique blend allows me to teach practices that honor both ancient wisdom and modern Western science.
Transformation often happens when we feel safe enough to look at all aspects of ourselves. It takes courage, and when we do this work, we can uncover a profound wellspring of acceptance, joy and delight.
Whether I’m teaching a class, working one-on-one, or leading a workshop, I draw from both my personal journey of healing and my professional training to teach with authenticity. My first decade of yoga practice gave me direct experience of yoga’s power to heal. My later studies in interpersonal neurobiology and psychology deepened that practice by explaining the “whys” — how the mind, brain, and body interact, and how they can perpetuate long held beliefs and patterns.
Blending yogic philosophy with Western science helped me release the belief that something was inherently wrong with me. Instead, I found acceptance, compassion, and a path toward wholeness.
Trauma-Informed Practice
With training in Interpersonal Neurobiology, my work is grounded in understanding how the nervous system is impacted by life experiences.
This is why I lead with a trauma-informed approach, so that my classes and private sessions can feel comfortable, predictable, and supportive. I focus on movement practices with abdundant adaptations for the individual, meditative practices that meet an individual’s state of being, and functional breathing guidance to help you reconnect with your body in a stable and empowering way.
Education
I am a 500-hour certified yoga teacher and currently finishing a comprehensive 3.5-year Yoga Therapy training program with Essential Yoga Therapy.
I bring my extensive experience, training and education into each class, private session, or workshop – incorporating a deep focus on yogic philosophies, Western science and psychology, and yoga-based breath and movement practices.
